What is a Ductless Split or Mini-Split System?
Like a conventional air conditioning system it also has a condenser (unit) located outside of the house. The difference between a conventional system and a ductless/ mini split system is that there is very little or no ductwork at all. There is no bulky ductwork in the basement or ducting for the second story of a house. They utilize small wall mounted blowers that can cool and heat individual rooms.
These systems are ideal for homes, cottages or businesses where you need cooling or heating for retrofit or new construction. Some benefits are:
Because there are no ducts, these systems lose less than 5% cooling vs. up to 40% for traditional forced-air systems. Increased efficiencies up to 33-SEER mean lower utility bills.
Individual zoning allows you to heat or cool the areas you want, and not the areas that are unoccupied.
Ductless air conditioners are composed of an indoor and outdoor unit, which allows for a comfortable indoor environment by enabling the contractor to install louder components like compressors and motors outdoors. These indoor units are quieter than your refrigerator.
No Duct Work
Copper tubing running through a small 3-4″ opening in the wall or ceiling easily connects the indoor and outdoor units. Refrigerant is cycled through the lines from the outdoor condensing unit to the indoor unit, where the air is quietly distributed to the interior space.
Year Round Cottage, Home or Business Comfort
The systems we provide offer the right amount of heating and cooling needed by installing 1-8 indoor units connected to one outdoor unit or individual units depending on the application. Indoor units vary by size and style and each creates its own “zone” of comfort, allowing you to heat or cool individual rooms, hallways and open spaces.
