Radiant heat results from radiant energy emitted from a warm-surface heat source, such as a floor, walls or panels, and warms people and objects in the space, rather than heating the air. Radiant heated buildings allow for lower temperatures than conventionally heated buildings with the same perceived level of comfort.
Outdoor radiant heaters target specific spaces, warming only the nearby people and objects. Radiant heating can also be used for snow melting and for roof and gutter de-icing, or to eliminate heavy snow loads.
